The Freebie centers on Darren (Shepard) and Annie (Aselton), a young married couple with an enviable relationship built on love trust and communication. 一个大家庭里，男孩毫不起眼，渐渐家人们离去，像一棵卷心菜突然被剥光菜叶，露出稚嫩的菜心。才发现需要一个人面对世界的悲凉。 像一首散文诗，前半部分剧情发展极快，后半更注重男孩内心的刻画，节奏明显放缓。 导演执迷于将故事置于美景之中发生。大自然的天作，人工的华丽。但都只是背景，是情绪的催化剂，但绝不是决定性因素。

内容有些割裂，也缺乏一些背景知识所以比较难共情。不过看的过程本身也很享受，选景很美大海也很自由，最后隔着玻璃拍少年的镜头很美
像导演的自叙。我们一同见证过欢乐兴奋，也在曲终人散时悲愤哀伤，但那不勒斯永远是我们的根。后半段男主故人风景离别的场面，有那么点那不勒斯《山河故人》的感觉。

一场言真意切的自我治愈系创作，年代回望的切身感甚至唤起我回忆里某种遥远的朴素情感。直接的亲缘离散，想象的共同体终究遥远，退回自我最真实的欲望和情感，逃避也许可耻但有用。
只不过换了主角，场景，情节的另一种演绎。
从那天起，那些不堪的，伤心的往事，那些美好的，天真的回忆，那些浪漫的，激情的邂逅都随着男孩的离开而永远留在了美丽的那不勒斯，"上帝之手"或许更多地发生在"事在人为"。
