The Freebie centers on Darren (Shepard) and Annie (Aselton), a young married couple with an enviable relationship built on love trust and communication. Darren and Annie still enjoy each other’s company and laugh at each other’s jokes, but, unfortunately, they can’t remember the last time they had sex. When a dinner party conversation leads to an honest discussion about the state of their love life, and when a sexy bikini photo shoot leads to crossword puzzles instead of sex, they begin to flirt with a way to spice things up. 以废土朋克风格定格动画表现的混合了宗教奇幻和政治隐喻的文明兴衰故事。本片的形式和主题高度统一，其黑色调性很容易使人联想到 Tim Burton 的一系列作品，但残酷程度则远甚之。影片的想象力之深刻壮阔令人叹服。
人类用共同想象建构起秩序，这个秩序又成为折磨我们的疯神。
