The Freebie centers on Darren (Shepard) and Annie (Aselton), a young married couple with an enviable relationship built on love trust and communication. Darren and Annie still enjoy each other’s company and laugh at each other’s jokes, but, unfortunately, they can’t remember the last time they had sex. When a dinner party conversation leads to an honest discussion about the state of their love life, and when a sexy bikini photo shoot leads to crossword puzzles instead of sex, they begin to flirt with a way to spice things up. 视觉风格依然是典型的柯南伯格，尤其很多场景、道具直接呼应《感官游戏》，body horror再次展现令人欲罢不能的怪诞美学，相比表象，主题更为激进大胆，柯南伯格都马上要八十的人了，仍然对现实世界，对社会制度，对艺术探索保持清醒的警戒，依旧是当代电影的首席开拓者。痛感带来快感，痛感催生改变，痛感推动人类进化，痛感造就全新世界。

这电影相当相当的行为艺术了。重口味又没啥核心内容，˃ʍ˂挺无趣的，纯粹看演员表演了，而且重口味镜头恶心🤢，不是俺的菜。

痛觉丧失，变异失序，切除变异以维护本来的人体秩序，还是移植新生以主导进化方向，当人类还在为了主导权互相争斗，大自然已经改变了人类的基因，让人类自己去消化那些人类的制造物了。在大自然面前，人类何其渺小。
在柯南伯格眼中
提出对进化的质疑，“某种程度上人类也在退化”。这观点挺有意思。

当身体被大张旗鼓的切开，手术刀不再是工具，而是性器官的延伸。于是每个人都渴望躺上那个诡异的床，期待被切开，被深入。人体是不甘于只作为艺术的画布，它有自己的想法，于是进化出了“新人类”。
未来狂想配上后工业风格的美术，柯南伯格的老本已经被吃完了。蕾雅赛杜是看下去的动力。
