The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 额，我感觉我看到了我自己，“哭给自己看”，破碎空白的生活，总想再在“我们一起做点事吧”中寻找所谓生活的意义。
演技全员在线，画面也很有感觉，就是某种程度来讲剧情还是不值得推敲，但是当做搞笑剧来看很不错
看完了几天，始终觉得不太好评价，感觉近年对于欲求愈益明确之后，便对这种心猿意马心口不一的事儿难以产生共鸣，人总要面对眼下的一切，以及最真实的自我，逃避的方式和时间越长，某些情绪反扑也就更加严峻，嗯，苦海无涯，回头无岸。
演员们的表演都很出彩，只是对男主形象的展现有点流于表面，没能深入分析到具体起源，作者埋了原生家庭、前男友这两条线，但都没展开。不过这样莫名浮躁、不安分的人物形象应该可以戳中许多现实中的男同吧，就挺真实的
我从来没有感觉如此窒息过。
其实应该算是家庭题材吧，不用特别强调一些tag，男主一直都在尝试和自己和解，和女儿和解，追求自己想要的生活，追求所爱。
生活里的bipolar够多了，电影还拍个没完.......
我真的长大了，现在看这种电影已经没有浪漫的想法了。为数不多的感受就是职场上能遇到这种好朋友真难得，怎么能在不喜欢的岗位上坚持那么多年真厉害云云。我觉得男主就是个很多人在生活中都能遇到，不起眼的小角色。但我觉得他好厉害
其实就是套了一个txl的壳子，里面讨论的还是中年人困境或者人生成长的课题，男主演技很棒，老了还是帅大叔
黑岛结菜还是那么纯啊，跟当年一样。还像个小姑娘一样，单纯的可爱。
文化部还投钱拍，佩服
一见钟情光速告白马上同居什么的，果然是年轻人搞暧昧谈恋爱做得出来的事。后来笔锋一转，变成了人气出轨小年轻，果然是日本喜欢拍的故事。不过其实这个片子讲的是踏进社会之后所面对的理想和现实的落差。黑岛结菜有点帅气的美。就是床戏有点尴尬。
饭桌上争执的那一幕真的是吵得我头要炸掉那么凶。
岛国上大学，不远，还能回家吃饭，话说跟台湾一样，很多演员都能聚到一起。黑岛结菜集出轨和劈腿于一身。男二很帅。我看出了时间感和物是人非。最后黑岛来过第一次约会的鲸鱼公园喝酒，分手后就没有镜头了，找手机，首尾呼应，男主还能笑得出来。这就是失恋物语，没什么故事。
全局最大悬疑就是埋了个黑岛结菜身份的伏笔，其实也并没有太多意义。结尾主角工作终于有了转机，感情依然空空如也。
3.5.与其说是躁郁症，不如说是中年危机混合分离焦虑吧.可惜情绪流实在太混乱了，Léo的演技也挽回不了多少.Btw 为什么会有Léo从青年到中年都这么可口的男子.Damn good!👍
其实是还不错的剧情片，对男主及周边人物性格和内心的展现很深刻也很强烈，演员们出色的表演也张力十足，但是主角的人物形象明显缺少一个有力的转折点，仅仅依靠母亲去世，女儿出国留学很难有说服力，造成电影前半部分的疯狂和最后的平静无法自然地连接在一起。
看了片头部分的风格和人物出场，各种尬，遂弃。
2.5有点土气。。但竟然还有共情到的镜头！以及最后一个镜头真是土到掉渣。。
