The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 莫名想到星爷《功夫》。不是我杯茶，看得有点无聊。为传统文化和动画制作加半颗星。为什么现在这些粤语配音就是没有以前看的tvb演员原声粤语听起来自然呢。

只要你能稍微忍受前半段些许的中二狗血的剧情，那么今年的国产院线最佳没跑了！开篇媲美《冰雪奇缘2》的怒放木棉花真是惊艳人心，大片温润的暖光也非常柔和地洒落在观众疲惫的内心，活灵活现的舞狮特效让我们在这个习俗快要绝迹的年代第一次如此近距离地感受传统文化的魅力与生命，密林丛中佛前的磕求与闲庭迈步让我们见证了内心的力量，聚焦留守儿童、外地务工家庭的柔思也第一次让人感受到国产动画团队的温情与思考，高潮处至死是少年的燃情也燃烧的恰到好处。这么高质量高水平的原创IP故事，在阿娟向着擎天柱高高跃起的瞬间，我才真正的看到了独属于这个时代的哪吒。
虽然是个科幻设定，但内里折射出的是现代人的孤岛生存模式，包括死后宠物的处置这也是现实生活中会遭遇的问题，只不过电影里会有智能机器人去承接遗愿，听上去有些心酸又不至于全然无望，汉克斯演这种角色很是驾轻就熟，就是整个时长长了些，捡球和看金门大桥两段加分。

是感兴趣的题材，小格局小情节却很专注。注入了《我是传奇》的框架，《瓦力》的温情，《爱死机》的配方。看待生命有多种方式，如何定义他人他物。如果还有的话，挺想看后传的。★★★☆/7.7
西瓜皮顶在头上，狮子头放在心里，背咸鱼跑在乡间，佛祖在密林深处
美术和动作很赞，就是人物太奇怪了。还原真实的话，我们岭南人不长这样啊，还有直接画成猴的。不过这个现实主义题材，人文关怀的方向很戳人。后半段更是让故事上一个台阶，最后的飞身挂狮头很燃。故事关注农村留守儿童，农民工和正在消失的岭南文化，也很难得。就是前半段烂梗较多，人物刻板标签化，成长线也弱，剧本台词缺点顺滑。动画做的像实拍，狮头，木棉花，俯拍的场景都很好，总体算是有诚意的佳作了！

全员工具人为剧情服务，剧情老套到即使是很少看电影的我都能全部猜中，硬生生点主题，主题是“我不想被人看作病猫所以我拼搏舞狮得了省比赛第一名然后我就成了狮子”，对此借用友邻一句短评——“我爸没有医保，你友内卷到爆”。开豪车的女孩说你要坚持梦想，却连个联系方式都不过问仿佛这种一眼就看出的被迫出卖体力的漂泊真如对方说的是“体验生活”。男人至死是少年，女人却要为一次失败的婚姻买所有单，还要负责让男人快乐。

国产动画终于——暂别满天神佛，重拾人间烟火。
请参考莫言的《丰乳肥臀》，马尔克斯的《百年孤独》，诺兰的《记忆碎片》和范多梅尔的《无姓之人》，学习一下如何把平凡的事情讲的陌生而又惊心动魄，再学习一下如何集聚情绪，在情绪高点却把惊心动魄一笔带过。
很好看，对广州的描绘非常细致。影片中出现的云，我手机里有同款！！！！本来只准备打四星但我身边居然有人跟风认为导演夹带私货（他看都没看过就看网上说的就这么认为了），所以我要打五星，气死这些蠢货。
好看的，虽然剧情很套路。（后排小孩老是踢椅子，哼。）
