芬奇想要保护狗的行为，本质上是希望他们能在末世里守住人性的尊严，在不可信任的世界里重建信任。一行人经历着不断失去（同伴），又不断上路继续走下去的过程，因此即使最终只剩下一狗一机器人，人消失了，不过这个世界依然存有人性的善意，这也是这部电影最动人之处。
