The Freebie centers on Darren (Shepard) and Annie (Aselton), a young married couple with an enviable relationship built on love trust and communication. Darren and Annie still enjoy each other’s company and laugh at each other’s jokes, but, unfortunately, they can’t remember the last time they had sex. When a dinner party conversation leads to an honest discussion about the state of their love life, and when a sexy bikini photo shoot leads to crossword puzzles instead of sex, they begin to flirt with a way to spice things up. The deal: one night of freedom, no strings attached, no questions asked. Could a freebie be the cure for their ailing sex life? And will they go through with it? 與短篇前作《I Am Easy To Find》的創作方向相近，戲中訪問部份更可呼應導演紀錄片舊作《Paperboys》，或可溫暖人心的簡單創作。印象中這是Joaquin Phoenix 第一次在銀幕上成為「爸爸」角色，演過充滿戾氣《Joker》之後，擔起這Part-time 爸爸角色，與Woody Norman的對手戲令他氣質也變得不一樣，是的，電影大多時候依靠Joaquin 和Woody之間對話進行，錄音和姊姊找老公都是其次，Joaquin 和Woody 正是上演一場疫情後的《Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance:》，關於生命中的不安，如何面對、如何抉擇、說這是通俗化（雖然他的形式上接近Essay Film)《The Human Voice》也無不可，借由聲音讓自己和世界連結。喜歡其中一段話（大約）「fuck the word ，you can yelling, you can angry, Actually, you can be dissatisfied with the world。」
虽然依旧柯学，但已经是近几年的剧场版里难得的故事完整，逻辑自恰，笑点泪点拿捏精准的合格作品了。

无条件偏爱安室透，警校组的情节虽然不多但真的很感人

脚踩着那双白色的Chuck Taylor“漫游者”在收声之中完成了一次巡礼也是城市景观近物描写，那是最温柔的纽约。看完此片也让我想起自己在现实中承担着叔叔舅舅的职责，要做到如那清风拂面，也要星撒繁空~

画面虽然是黑白的，却让人看到了色彩斑斓的众生相，而且也摒除了彩色带来的干扰。我很喜欢！
广大男性卷起来，请多拍男性带娃的电影，不要让女人把这个市场垄断了

Johnny背着Jesse静静的向前走着，有一搭没一搭地说着不着调的话，是2021年大银幕上最温暖的时刻。Mike Mills，Joaquin和Woody大概是三个天使。
