This 1992 Japanese film tells the story of a scientist who sets out to create the new "super Adam and Eve", humans who cannot be controlled by their emotions. Of course, the end result it not exactly what the good doctor expects.

This modern tale of an attempt to build a creature is one of the best "horror" films ever made, even if its not a horror film but something else entirely. Certainly its on my short list of all time great films.
This film was introduced to me by someone who told me "I have this film that probably one of the best films you'll ever see. It will move you and touch you and make you think, but if I told you what it is and told you how its done you will think its the stupidest thing on the face of it and you won't watch it." Intrigued I asked what did he mean, and he said, "Well its a Frankenstein story, with a very goofy sort of edge, but which uses it to its advantage." My ears perked up, and I being a trusting soul took the tape and watched it. I was blown away.
The plot concerns a mad scientist attempting to make a new Adam and Eve in the wake of a suicidal plague that is ravaging the world. Locked up in his lab his experiments go differently then either he or we expect. Some of it is silly (The bolts in the neck, the wrestling moves...), all of it is touching and thought provoking.
I can not recommend this movie enough. If you are willing to take the film on its terms and allow it to tell its story then I urge you to seek this film out and see it. This is an undiscovered gem that will stay with you forever.

Also known as "The Last Frankenstein", this is an extraordinary, impeccably produced horror film. Director Takeshi Kawamura uses Mary Shelley's novel as a mere launching pad for an exploration of subjects as diverse and fascinating as the nature of love, desire, suicide, mass hypnosis, sex, alienation and jealousy.
And though the film is dense with subtext, it is also stunningly photographed and rich in atmosphere and detail. The performances are all amazing and Kawamura's sensitive handling of the strange, delicate relationships between the characters results in an emotionally charged, angst-ridden tragedy.
The scenes of the confused, troubled monster hurtling through a fog-shrouded forest at night are memorable and striking, as is a brilliant home movie-style montage of the film's more curious characters enjoying a precious afternoon at the beach. Kawamura creates resonating visual poetry of horror and sadness barely sighted since Todd Browning's classic "Freaks".
Intelligent, emotional, tragic and real, this is an absolute gem. 9/10
卡魯Schauburg 電影院，70 毫米弧幕。銀幕上有洛杉磯的 El Portal 電影院，橫幅上的《007你死我活》是1973年上映的，越戰末期，也符合第一次石油危機的年份。讓我震撼的是伊安弗萊明的名字，007原著系列作者——那是個電影能靠小說作者名字賣座的年代。
好多细小的跳跃和断裂，氛围未到音乐先行，bgm过于强力，仿佛宅男拿出跑步歌单滚一遍同时脑补从盒子里放出一个极有能量的女主再把她禁锢回去的故事，大概就是这种印象，一种并不能说服我的完整。
扯的地方有很多，最扯的是真哈维竟然能原谅假卡尔
4.5，开头显得十分漫长且乏味，但后半段越看越喜欢。视听语言还是其一贯的高水准，整体氛围在一些幽默元素的烘托下显得趣味十足。对幼稚但有商业头脑的15岁小男生，和一位勇敢果断的女性间模糊复杂的情感刻画到位，并借此对在美国70年代的混乱与动荡的社会环境、政治变动以及女性的生存环境等进行探讨。虽然偏男性视角，但也有对女性的关怀，女主奋力追逐，想要跨越自身，但总是遭到周围男性的伤害。最心疼的一幕是女主清晨坐在路边，看着她身边的幼稚男伙伴，感到难过并明白了能依靠的只有自己。
PTA也拍了属于自己的往事片，关于Valley的展现很私人化，而且对于时代风貌的展现也很具体，镜头里的洛杉矶很真实。对于本片ZZZQ的批评有些无厘头，明显这里展现的就是当年的现实，而且也在女主那呈现了正确的审视角度。
好看！我梦回《私恋失调》！特别喜欢议员+议员男友+女主三人对话的调度：1.后景的议员起身招呼女主，移焦至前景的男友，他的笑容僵住；2.位于画面右侧的男友脸色难看，左侧的议员只有手入画，焦点从男友移至在中间入座的女主镜像3.议员胸上；4.回到2的构图，侍者入画，焦点从女主移到男友，男友被侍者、侍者与女主的镜像层层包围，他的脸色愈发阴沉。侍者一走男友就开始向议员发难，但焦点反而移回女主镜像。随着两名男性争吵的升级，摄影机逐渐推近。我特别喜欢4的拍法，议员无疑是所有矛盾的始作俑者，但这个镜头却偏偏排除了议员（因为他是这个场景里最“没有心”的人，他玩弄利用所有人而毫不愧疚），而是将重点放在女主发现真相时的心理变化以及她与议员男友之间的情感共鸣。非常效率的一镜，也为结尾女主的选择埋下合情合理的伏笔。
春节档唯一的喜剧片
导演拍过女主的乐队的mv，女主的妈妈就是导演小学艺术课的老师，故事的灵感来自于那会儿导演对这个老师的crush... 神奇
为了公平打分 我专门补看了原版 哎 怎么说呢 原版就是浪费胶片。。。
两星给画面和演员。好老套的剧情，好male gaze的结局，好低俗的亚裔玩笑，不敢想象这是2021年好评如潮的作品（而且70mm的放映机画面一直在频闪，看得我眼要瞎掉了。。。
虽然有很强的话剧感，虽然有些情节安排很刻意，情绪转变很生硬，但作为喜剧片，合格的
喜欢，对这种复古美式调调毫无抵抗力。毕竟就冲着PTA的调度都足够满足，倒车戏一场就够我爽了，谢谢！
2022年电影院看的第一部电影。看了一个半小时提前离场，不想继续带着两层口罩闷得难受地看一部没有逻辑又充满男性凝视的无聊电影。
能把这个片子和racism扯到一起的也真是厉害死了，对放大真实的70mm，还原LA的荒唐叙事不满的，就是会在莎翁剧作里加黑人主角的，I guess?
3.5，长着菲勒斯的乙女向电影，斯坦尼康下人物的跑动的大量呈现为影片营造了一种运动感，在《甘草披萨》中，它的别名是某种禁欲-纯洁主义，耗散荷尔蒙的同时令这段年龄差距悬殊的感情永远保持坚实（贞洁），性不存在，我们甚至无法像Gary一样，唯一看到一次她的裸露。PTA似乎企图回归早期《不羁夜》中的胶片与70年代的美国电影质感，却将对于美国梦的反讽替换为一种沉溺，他宁愿相信这些谎言。水床是公关文化的把戏，消费主义的空头支票，但这种对于景观的应许也是其最为迷人的一面，一如影片以怀旧桥段作为结局，并没有像往常一样，将爱情建立在双相情感障碍或哥特式性虐之上，而是近些年来美国大隐秘的又一个童话，无需回应任何议题的水晶球乌托邦，对于PTA而言，信手拈来拍摄一部小镇风情画并非难事，因而以上评价绝无褒义。
有趣的灵魂万里无一。这片子怎么好我说不出来，应该说这部片子可以算是所有做作的恋爱电影的终极反义词了。
室内戏为主，虽不是开心麻花的顶级制作，但也算一线水准，魏翔终于成为了男一号，戏内戏外终成佳话。剧本特别好，金句不断，灵光乍现，可惜创意源自日本名剧，算改编成功吧，什么时候我们自己出这种好剧本呢？那一定可以被海外翻拍。开心麻花的优势就团队，所有主配角都演得很棒，开心麻花宇宙即将建成，你看这个小城就是西虹市的影视基地。
《私恋失调》不会重来，但是“倒车”那段又被诡计多端的PTA抓到了。
一众夸导演的夸运镜夸剧本夸角度的，我就觉得这剧情真没意思。
都不知道该说，幸好还是虽然，一直都喜欢不起来PTA，这么无趣的青春片，怎么能出自PTA。。
