The Freebie centers on Darren (Shepard) and Annie (Aselton), a young married couple with an enviable relationship built on love trust and communication. 小时候就看过，印象中看过的第一部谍战片，因人物原型有那么一点子特殊情结在，很喜欢。

如果从电影的拍摄手段或者电影画面来看，这部电影没什么技巧，只是在讲一个好故事。
影院看了高清彩色修复版。回忆起小时候在电视上扫到过的黑白版本的片尾，基调很不同。

孙道临一开始看着不像干革命的，后来就觉得“好棒啊！李侠！”

修复的挺好，相似蒙太奇像刚学会拼命用，相对窃听可观看性没这么高，但58年拍成这样不错了，反派也有血有肉，就是女主有点样板了
以现在的眼光看，编剧有很多硬伤。毕竟当时从主创到观众文化素养普遍不高，需要脸谱化的表演。电影技法可以说比较幼稚，很多无意义的镜头，需要起承转合的地方又缺少必要的镜头语言交代（可能是在出品年代很多内容近乎常识的缘故）。但对本片评价不能拘泥于此，要参看电影所在的时代以及当时的电影工业水平和创作者局限性。
电影的故事原型为在上海从事地下工作的中国共产党党员李白。
小时候看并不知道是真实人物事件改编，知道了如今再看感触不一样了。当时影坛的两大帅哥同框，也只有孙道临能让王心刚去演反派了hiahia
