The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 不敢相信这是雷导的片子，犹如一部古驰家族肥皂剧，角色很搞笑，各位的表演也很搞笑

明明是一个可读性很强的故事，却被拍的如此拖拉无亮点。尤其是这注水的大部分时长里，基本全是gaga神婆般的絮絮叨叨，就更赶客了。

6.5/10。今天是感恩节，看完的感觉像是吃了一只料塞得太满的火鸡，like前面几口很美味，吃到最后有点想吐，非常惋惜怀念最开始的几口。之前看完The Last Duel，觉得年过八十的老雷尚能饭否，看完本片觉得他该退休了。上一次看群戏这么用力过猛的电影还是十年前的美国骗局，同样也是有人变秃有人增重，女主是幕后主谋。我真的有在努力喜欢这个故事了，lady gaga的表现也是真的很出色（她在本片的表演肯定可以提名奥斯卡影后），还是很有娱乐性的作品，就是没达到我的预期。
虽说每个朝代都有各自的伤春悲秋，但看到J. Irons和A. Pacino的身颜，以及联想到最近Father里的霍普金斯，还是忍不住心生乡愁。啊，这些八九十年代遗留下来的人，请走得慢一些吧！大抵和新浪潮初期看到盖博叹息好莱坞黄金年代已过，八九十年代看到阿兰德龙贝尔蒙多差不多的乡愁。剧情和前阵纪录片几乎完全一致，大小角色都是奥斯卡级别确实跟名牌环绕效应略有呼应:) 对于runway牌衣不惊人死不休的争抢、品味可疑、不及意/英传统手工制作的结论并没改变。穷或贵，与欢喜愉快或焦虑有多少关系，命长还是猝死，与这生命的战斗，又有多少区别。由此，派对上那杯马提尼(?)，是福端或祸起，都无所谓，与事中人的历史，家族的历史，品牌的历史，成衣、定制的行业，大千世界的你来我往，不过一句叹息罢了。07.12.2021，慕尼黑CK，原音德字，欣欣向荣

作为对Gucci几乎一无所知的穷人，觉得这部电影真的挺好看的，几分钟就洒一捧狗血，大家演得也莫名可爱。
这么一个大家族浮华绝代的故事如果要保持严谨的基调让斯科塞斯来操刀最合适，但是冷不防抛来的喜剧段落看来又是想达到人物情景剧的效果，非常理解请了这么多大咖，不给这些神棍留点近景怎么行？但同样是关于人物情景剧，雷老爷子去学学《继承之战》吧！同样是关于富国敌国充满金钱与阴谋的世界，人物线与事件线纠缠波动的关系是需要靠剧本研磨撑起来的，而不是光秃秃的人物与赤条条的事件。

所有老男人视角的部分拍的都挺好，父子关系、婚姻破裂、资本收购家族企业等都很真实。问题是导演讨厌男女主（本质上是讨厌时尚行业），男主丑、蠢，和台词讲的不一样，既无魅力也无怪癖。女主更被刻画得刻薄、虚荣、控制欲强、歇斯底里。他们出现的每一秒都令人煎熬，结局自然无法引人唏嘘。所以这部电影有神奇功效，散场之后看到琳琅满目的奢侈品店，感到每条纤维都油腻、肥胖、没文化。
踏入豪门，堕入欲望的牢笼。

似乎老头对这场狗血闹剧其实也没多大兴趣，除了冷眼旁观的视角外，十几年的跨度，情节推进草草了事，至于司机和Gaga，举手投足都不像意大利人。
拍的太四平八稳了，乏善可陈，感觉是个假雷导拍的。唯一表扬的是全片所有人物的服装是真的不错。
