The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 略扯淡。前面要花大篇幅交代背景。后面打斗很牵强，总之，主角老爷赢得很惊险。太不容易了，失去了妻子和儿子的英国佬。最后露面的反派也很莫名其妙，一个好战的副官竟然组织起了这样黑暗的组织。一战，俄国，甚至最后连希特勒，原来都是被一个幕后小组织控制着呢。而位于应该的裁缝铺也要成长为一个很伟大的组织了。看到儿子躲过枪林弹雨在战壕里被同袍爆头后，我真的有触动，前半部分觉得这是个反战片，对一战的战场刻画觉得就是《1917》，正好结合昨天今天俄罗斯又开始打乌克兰了。和平多么珍贵，但是人性中的动物性，又需要把攻击性释放出来。

喜剧的元素看起来很滑稽，荒诞。不真实。疏离。
太见鬼了吧，最有意思的居然只有Rasputin跳芭蕾杀人，其余角色死的要么莫名其妙要么让人无语，马修·沃恩又创新低，而且真是每部只有一个女性正面角色，多一个又怎么了，多出现几场戏又怎么了？真是浪费我Gemma姐姐的演技和美丽了，几个演过反派的演员这次再来演反派真是一点惊喜也无，英国人啥时候casting和好莱坞一样了，看样子还要拍个二战，快点拍完去搞别的吧，别一个屎坑里踩水了。
还原历史又魔改历史人物，还编的莫名其妙。
怎么说呢，王男的魅力恰恰是有点虚浮的形式感。当你想在里面增加一些实质的东西让形式感落地变得更有意义的时候。它反而就毁了。

开始还以为片尾彩蛋里出现的大胡子是斯大林呢，没想到是希特勒。
开头十分钟就给我看得昏昏欲睡，试图给我上历史课你是认真的吗？一部商业片却大谈政治背景、国家战争这些狗屁，也太舍本求末了。王牌特工系列，看的就是精致优雅的西装配合华丽夸张的打斗，再带有点英式幽默，这些king's man系列精髓，在这部前传的前半小时里毫无体现，让我也实在没兴致接着看下去。
实在是浪费了这个系列，尤其是反派大boss的塑造，太弱了。以致于把列宁和希特勒搁一块，以保持左右平衡的段子，都没多少效果了。
会跳芭蕾的Rasputin这个人物设计的非常棒。King's Man确定不把战斗力很强的山羊也收了？
政治魔黑雨露均沾，历史恶搞人人脑瘫。
全片华彩在俄罗斯妖僧的芭蕾武上。另外叛逆期儿子战场上那一段设计的也很有想法，把战争的盲目和荒诞表现的不错。
太难看了，期待了一年，怎么会写成这么一个前半段无聊后半段陈词滥调的剧本。反派是谁简直一看cast就能猜到，三段式的剧本在第一个小时的打斗之后就泄气，儿子的战场段落更是毫无意义。男主部分时候笨拙部分时候又身手矫健，男配女配都是工具人。反派杀手除了第一个疯子打斗段落很有新意，女杀手30秒就结束了。一星给最后片尾小枝的measure of a man。
